Milwaukie basketball is kicking off the season in style with our 2nd Annual Mustang Mania, presented by Milwaukie High School Basketball and MMYBA! Join us for an evening celebrating our youth and high school programs — filled with energy, community, and Mustang pride.

All MMYBA teams (boys and girls, grades 3–8) will be recognized during the event!

Please arrive no later than 6:45 PM.

Teams will sit together in the bleachers on the left side of the gym as you enter.

We’re excited to share details for MMYBA tryouts for the 2025-26 season!

Tryout dates will be Sunday, September 28 and Saturday, October 4, both at Milwaukie High School. It is encouraged to attend both sessions if possible. One is mandatory for team selection. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled time to allow time to check in.

🏀 BOYS TRYOUTS

Tryouts are expected to be competitive at the middle school level. In the past, we've placed players on two teams for each of the 6th thru 8th grade level. Not all players will make a team. For those that don't make a team, there are other playing opportunities through programs such as Hoopers. The elementary level is typically less competitive for roster spots and features a single team per grade level.

• 3rd/4th grade boys- 1-2:30
• 5th/6th grade boys 3-4:30
• 7th/8th grade boys 5-6:30

🏀 GIRLS TRYOUTS

We are planning to offer a skills clinic/tryout hybrid experience. Based on previous turnout, we anticipate forming one team at each grade level with the required number of players, and our focus will be on ensuring a strong, supportive environment for player development. This clinic-style approach will provide a fun, low-pressure opportunity to showcase skills while getting back into the rhythm of basketball.

Season Update

After exploring various options, we will be returning to tournament play for the 2025-26 season with a renewed effort to better match each team to the appropriate competition level. We will also be working more directly with coaches to select the right tournaments. Our expectation is that this will provide more suitable competition for all teams. We are still finalizing details for the upcoming season and will provide more information prior to tryouts. We're committed to creating a competitive, development-focused program where every young athlete in Milwaukie can grow and thrive. Stay tuned for season information in the coming weeks.

We're excited to run our last installment of summer skills clinics for 2025!

This 6 session clinic is designed to help incoming 6th-8th boys and girls sharpen fundamentals, build confidence, and connect with the Milwaukie basketball community.

MMYBA offers Sunday skills training and free weeknight open gyms throught April and May. All activities are at Milwaukie High School.

Guided skills training 

Work with high school girls head coach Craig Sneed, getting expert training from an experienced coach and private trainer for a great deal! 

• 8 Sunday evening sessions starting 4/6
• Sessions held April 6, 13, 20, May 4, 18, 25, and June 1 and 8
• Girls: 5-6 pm (grades 5-8)
• Boys: 6-7 pm (grades 6-8)
• $75 per player (per hour of training offered, this is half the cost of what other programs in the area are charging)

Elementary coed:

Girls grade 5-8: 

• Thursday & Friday, 5-7 pm

Boys grade 6-8: 

• Tuesday & Wednesday, 7-8 pm
• Friday, 7-9 pm

Coaches are invited to work with their team, players can come out on their own and work on their skills, or players can get together to scrimmage in 3v3 or 5v5 games!
